Buddhist Temple- Buthan This Temple is propped on the edge of high cliffs nearly 1,000 feet in Paro Valley, Tiger’s Nest is one of the holiest places in Bhutan. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha, flew on a rock in the back of a tigress and then meditated in a cave that exists today between the monastery walls. The church, formally called Goemba Taktshang, was built in 1692 and rebuilt in 1998 after a fire. Today, the monastery is no longer hosting Buddhist ascetics and can not be visited by tourists or ordinary.
